Edward G. Justus, May 10, 1929 – August 8, 2016 Edward G. Justus Briscoe, NY Mr. Edward Justus, an illustrious resident of Briscoe and the Jeffersonville area, entered into rest at his home on Monday August 8, 2016. He was 87 years old. The son of the late William and Kathryn Justus, Ed was born on May 10, 1929 in Astoria, Queens. Ed married the love of his life, Virginia Griffin, in September 1950 and together they raised three sons. Ed proudly served his country in three branches of the armed services – the Naval Reserves, the United States Army and the National Guard. During his lifetime, he was employed as a police officer for the New York City Police Department and was stationed in multiple boroughs of the city, including the Emergency Service Division. Upon his retirement, Ed and Virginia moved the family to their Briscoe Lake weekend home. For the next 40 years, Ed worked proudly beside two of his sons operating the family business, Justus Automotive of Jeffersonville. He passed away four months after the death of his beloved Virginia. Survivors include Ed’s three sons: Edward and his wife, Frances, of Jeffersonville, Robert and his wife, Lisa, of Wurtsboro, and Richard, also of Jeffersonville as well as his five grandchildren: Christopher, Jennifer, Diana, Kathryn, and Reese. Also surviving is Ed’s beloved Boston terrier, Roxie. Ed and Virginia will both be laid to rest on their 66th wedding anniversary – Friday, September 16, 2016 at 2:00pm at the Sullivan County Veteran’s Cemetery – Sunset Lake Road, Liberty, NY. The entire Justus family wishes to thank the staff of Hospice for their professional and compassionate care.
